DSPPA Museum 10th Anniversary Celebration


On the morning of May 30, the DSPPA Museum officially launched its 10th Anniversary Celebration alongside the Treasured Collections Exhibition, marking a milestone in the museum’s development. 








The event brought together distinguished guests from government, museum and heritage institutions, as well as the cultural and arts sectors, to witness the occasion.



Guest Speeches, Opening Remarks




In the morning, the celebration officially commenced. The host first introduced the distinguished guests and leaders in attendance, extending a warm welcome and sincere appreciation for their presence.




Ms. Li Li, former Director of the Propaganda Department of the Standing Committee of Liwan District, Guangzhou, currently Counselor to the Guangdong Provincial Government and Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Association for the Promotion of Cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, delivered the opening speech. She extended her warm congratulations on the 10th anniversary of the DSPPA Museum and highly commended its contributions to the preservation of Lingnan culture and historical heritage. She also expressed her hopes that the museum would continue to leverage its platform to promote cultural education and support the flourishing of cultural development.



Following this, Mr. Wang Heng, Director of the DSPPA Museum, delivered a speech in which he reflected on the museum’s development over the past decade. He also personally introduced the key highlights of the Treasured Collections Exhibition, sharing the historical stories and collection insights behind the exhibits, guiding guests to appreciate the depth of history and the charm of art.




Expert Lecture, Art Appreciation




Professor Yu Li from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Artsdelivered an insightful lecture on art appreciation, focusing on a major highlight of the exhibition:“Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix,”a twelve-panel gold-ground silk painting. Professor Yu analyzed the painting techniques, artistic style, and cultural significance, providing guests with a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese painting.






Craftsmanship Heritage, Intangible Light


Master Zhang Minhui, a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project of ivory carving, a recipient of the State Council Special Government Allowance, and a senior arts and crafts artist, introduced the ivory carvings on display. Drawing on his personal experience, he vividly illustrated the exquisite craftsmanship and cultural transmission inherent in this heritage art form.

During the event, a series of academic forums were also held, including theGuangzhou Thirteen Hongs Repatriated Cultural Relics Seminarand theThirteen Hongs Cultural Relics Research Exchange. Experts and scholars gathered to discuss the historical and cultural significance of the Thirteen Hongs, as well as the preservation and study of repatriated artifacts, contributing to the research and exchange on regional cultural heritage.






Exhibition Tour, Immersive Experience



Guests were guided through the exhibition halls by Director Wang, viewing a variety of exquisite ivory carvings, Ming and Qing dynasty lacquerware, and other treasures.Attendees exchanged insights and expressed admiration for the craftsmanship and cultural significance of the collections.
