CMA2120 CMA2240 Dual-Channel Matrix Mixer Amplifier Solution for Restaurants

I. Solution Overview

Designed for small and medium-sized restaurants of approximately 200–400 m², this solution meets the needs of background music playback and daily paging. Centered on the DSPPA CMA2120 CMA2240 matrix mixer amplifier and complemented by DSPPA audio source player, paging microphones, and ceiling speakers, it provides a complete sound reinforcement system with independent zone control, configurable priority settings, and easy operation.

Lobby Background Music: Provide even sound coverage across approximately 200 m² of open seating, with audio quality suited to background music.

Independent Zone Control: Allow the volume of the approximately 100 m² private dining area to be adjusted independently of the lobby, with local volume control near the entrance.

Front Desk Paging: Enable one-touch paging for order calls and announcements in the lobby, with background music automatically attenuated during paging.

Expandable Paging Stations: Support up to four paging microphones to enable paging from multiple locations, such as the front desk and food preparation area.

II. Common Audio Challenges in Small and Medium-Sized Restaurants

Three Typical Challenges in Restaurant Sound Reinforcement (200–400 m²)

Competing Audio Sources

Background music, order calls, and promotional announcements compete for the same speakers, interrupting one another and affecting the dining experience.

Uneven Sound Coverage

The dining hall, private dining rooms, and corridors have different volume and audio content requirements. Sound may be difficult to hear in distant areas while being too loud nearby, making uniform coverage challenging.

Complex Operation

Restaurant staff and managers are not audio professionals, so complex equipment can be difficult to operate. Paging, zone selection, and volume adjustment may require technical assistance.

Design Goal: One integrated system that delivers three key benefits: independent zone control, configurable audio priorities, and simple operation.

III. Key Advantages of the CM2120 / CMA2240 for Restaurant Applications

Matrix Mixing

Input signals can be freely routed to different output channels, allowing background music in the main dining area, TV audio or music in private dining rooms, and paging from the front desk without interfering with one another.

Reliable Power Output: 2×120W /2×240W

With dual-channel independent outputs, the amplifier supports switchable constant-voltage and constant-impedance outputs, making it suitable for small and medium-sized restaurant systems with 8–16 ceiling speakers.

Priority Control and Remote Paging

MIC1 can be configured with the highest priority, automatically attenuating background music during announcements. A remote volume control interface also allows convenient volume adjustment from a wall-mounted controller.

Solution Description:

This system is built around the CMA2240 dual-channel matrix routing amplifier, paired with the MAG2107C digital player for background music and the CMA20 gooseneck paging station for announcements. The lobby and private dining area are driven by two independent output channels, allowing the entire system to work in coordination with the restaurant’s daily operations.

Daily Operation — Automatic Background Music Playback:

The MAG2107C player delivers background music via CD, USB, or Bluetooth. The CMA2240 matrix amplifier routes and mixes the audio, distributing it to both output channels simultaneously. The volume of each zone can be adjusted independently on the amplifier without affecting the other zone.

Private Dining Room Control — Wall-Mounted Panels:

One CMA01V wall-mounted control panel is installed at the entrance to the lobby and another at the entrance to the private dining area. Connected to the amplifier via network cables, the panels allow guests or staff to adjust the local volume and turn background music on or off using a simple rotary control.

Front Desk Paging — One-Touch Announcements with Automatic Music Attenuation:

When staff speak into the front desk CMA20 gooseneck paging microphone, the amplifier’s paging priority function automatically attenuates the background music. Order calls, collection reminders, and waiting notifications can then be heard clearly throughout the relevant areas.

Future Expansion — Flexible Paging and Zone Control:

The CMA2240’s RJ45 bus supports up to four CMA20 paging stations and multiple wall-mounted control panels. Additional paging points can be added by connecting them to the existing bus, reducing the need for new cabling.
